PM: THE ENEMY IS TERROR Live

Prime Minister Tony Abbott has confirmed at least 60 Australians fighting with the ISIL movement in northern Iraq and eastern Syria, along with 100 Aussies who are also facilitating and helping the extremist terror movement.

Mr Abbott announced the Federal Government will spend over $60million in boosting counter terrorism measures, including spiked security, and new laws ensuring people returning from terrorist activities abroad will be arrested.

"The enemy here is terrorism it's not any particular religion," proclaimed the Prime Minister. "What we are targeting is extremism, not members of any particular community."

Mr Abbott explained because of the number of nationals helping the movement of "medieval barbarism and utter ferocity" means what would have been a problem for overseas, now because Australia's problem too.
