There's been an outpouring of grief from family and friends on social media for young Sydney man Alex Daleo who died at a popular tourist spot in Croatia.

The 23 year old from the Sutherland Shire was on the holiday of a lifetime with his twin brother, when' he's believed to have fatally hit his head while trying to jump between two boats.

"I'm truly blessed to have spent the past 23 years with you by my side even through all the times we were fighting, the love was always there," his brother Lucas wrote on Facebook. "I am so glad that we got to travel the world together before you were taken from us."

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade confirmed consular assistance was provided to the family.
