Knock knock, who's there?
If you're in several suburbs in Sydney's south and inner-west it may soon be a delivery person dropping off your order of McDonalds food.
A home delivery trial at the North Parramatta franchise has proved so successful the fast food giant is now quietly preparing to roll the concept out at restaurants including Waterloo, Airport Gateway and Stanmore.
While the response has been positive for some customers, experts aren't in favour of the roll-out.
Nutritionist and chef, Zoe Bingley-Pullin, says while the occasional 'mac attack' isn't the end of the world, it is concerning that people are being offered such easy, unhealthy and nutrient dense options on a more frequent basis.
The biggest marketing success of McDonalds is for many customers it's cheap and it's convenient, but it's the volume people purchase that concerns me. There's nothing wrong with an indulgent treat but it's when we over-consume that it becomes an issue. We have such a challenge in our society to get people to lose weight and get them more active ... dare I say, walking down to the local McDonalds may even be better than getting the home delivery.
The new home delivery trial will begin in Waterloo on July 23, followed by the Airport on the 24th and Stanmore from July 30, at restricted hours.
